Infection Control

These fact sheets have been written to explain the role of UK health services, the National Health Service (NHS), to newly-arrived individuals seeking asylum. They cover issues such as the role of GPs, their function as gatekeepers to the health services, how to register and how to access emergency services.

Special care has been taken to ensure that information is given in clear language, and the content and style has been tested with user groups.

Patient Statement

We are very grateful to all our patients and residents in Trumpington for their forebearance in respect of the delays in our Practice moving into the new premises in the Clay Farm Centre .

The Cambridge City Council have issued the following statement :

It is disappointing for everyone that the new doctors’ surgery prepared for Trumpington Medical Practice has not been able to open as scheduled alongside the rest of the centre.

Everyone is mindful of the strain the situation is having on both the practice and patients alike, and the impact on the new pharmacy in Hobson Square too.

We can report that the roof works are now concluded, and final permissions for signing the leasesare currently underway with NHS England.

Meanwhile drainage related issues which require further remedial works are currently being undertaken, which are still causing a delay in occupation and completion.

We hope to have a firm date for occupation and moving in shortly.

We are assured that the remedial works are going to begin at the beginning of January and we hope to be in the new premises once they have been completed satisfactorily.

In the meantime THANK YOU once again.

FLU Vaccination

Please support the practice by having your vaccination with us

Flu vaccination provides the best protection against an unpredictable virus which infects many people and can cause serious illness and death each year.

The vaccination is free and recommended yearly for those most at risk from flu. You are eligible for the flu vaccine if you:

  • are  65 years or over (or will be by the 31st March 2019)
  • are currently pregnant (any stage)
  • have a long term health condition e.g. diabetes, heart disease, asthma (that requires continuous or repeated use of inhaled or systemic steroids or with previous exacerbations requiring hospital admission), COPD,  immunosuppressed, if you have chronic liver or kidney disease, if you have a problem with your spleen, or if you have a BMI of 40 or over.
  • care for someone else
  • a child (please see below)

Due to a change in advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) those aged 65 years + should receive (aTIV) immunisation and those 18 to 65 years at risk the (QIV) immunisation.

This year the deliveries are spaced out during the months of September, October and November and therefore you may have to wait until later to book your immunisation.

Children of certain age groups and/or those at risk are also eligible to receive a flu vaccination:

We would invite the parents/guardians of children to make appointments for their flu vaccinations in usual practice nurse clinics.

  • Children under 2 years if at risk only
  • Children aged 2-3 years (born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2016)
  • Children who were 3 years on 31st August 2018, but have since turned 4 are still eligible to be vaccinated
  • Children aged 4-9 years will be vaccinated by the School programme
  • Children aged 10 years but less than 18 years old if at risk only

Please note most children will be given the Nasal spray vaccination unless there is a clinical reason why this can’t be given.
